A RESOLUTION OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF OREGON

A RESOLUTION OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF OREGON Regarding Legislative Action Items and Resolutions Adopted by the State Central Committee

Whereas the Democratic Party of Oregon (DPO) conducts, as required by its bylaws, a Platform Convention every two years; and

Whereas the DPO maintains a standing Platform and Resolutions Committee to assist DPO members statewide in conducting such a Convention; and

Whereas at this biennial Convention, Democrats gather from all corners of the state to create and debate legislative action ideas and items (LAIs) for the state legislature and the US Congress; and

Whereas the members of the State Central Committee (SCC) of the DPO then proceed to prioritize these LAIs and Resolutions adopted by the SCC to assist the DPO in communicating effectively and persuasively on state and federal legislative issues of concern to Oregonians:

NOW THEREFORE THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF OREGON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. The priority list of LAIs, along with the revised Platform of the DPO, as well as all Resolutions adopted by the SCC shall be made available within 30 days of adoption to all Democratic state legislators and federal Congressional representatives.

Section 2. The DPO leadership shall seek to engage with our legislators and Congresspersons regarding LAI priorities and Resolutions adopted by the SCC both during legislative sessions and during interim periods.

Section 3. The DPO leadership shall report back to the SCC membership at each Quarterly Central Committee meeting on the efforts made during the previous quarter to engage our elected officials and on progress made regarding adopted legislative priorities and resolutions.
