A RESOLUTION OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF OREGON
WHEREAS, the Platform of the Democratic Party of Oregon speaks to Forest, Field and Range – supporting Oregon’s small farmers, ranchers and foresters as they provide from the land and
WHEREAS, the Platform of the Democratic Party of Oregon speaks to Ecology, and Natural Resources – providing for our needs, while preserving the earth and
WHEREAS, the Oregon Legislature proposed rewriting of Oregon’s property-compensation law known as Measure 37 and
WHEREAS, it would allow landowners as many as three homes on a single rural site and put some limits on development while allowing rural landowners to build and
WHEREAS, it would restrict development, particularly on high-value farmland and in areas with limited groundwater supplies and
WHEREAS, Oregon’s land-use law, passed in 1973, limits most rural land outside cities for farm and forest uses
NOW, THEREFORE, THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF OREGON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Democratic Party of Oregon urges passage of this measure in the November 2007 election
Section 2. The Democratic Party of Oregon urges all Democrats to actively support and work for the passage of this measure.
