Portland, OR — Christine Drazan has an extreme anti-abortion agenda that remains deeply out of step with Oregonians, who overwhelmingly support reproductive freedom.
Drazan established herself as an anti-abortion crusader during her time as a legislator, backing radical bills that could jail abortion providers while celebrating Donald Trump’s handpicked Supreme Court Justices overturning Roe v. Wade. Her far-right record includes:
- Sponsoring two bills that could jail or punish abortion providers, and attempting to force a vote on a third.
- Applauding the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, paving the way for abortion bans across the country
- Voting against legislation to protect access to abortion in Oregon from federal attacks
- Pledging to veto any legislation that would expand abortion access
- Receiving the endorsement of Oregon Right to Life, a radical anti-abortion group that opposes abortion even in cases of rape, incest, or the health of the mother and opposes access to contraception and IVF.
“Christine Drazan has spent her entire career in the state legislature showing us exactly what she believes: politicians should have more power over our pregnancies, our doctors, and the most private decisions of our lives,” said Democratic Party of Oregon Executive Director Candy Emmons. “We’ve seen what that agenda looks like in states across the country, where doctors have to consult lawyers before treating patients and families fear prosecution for helping someone get care. Oregon has chosen a different path, and we will not let Christine Drazan drag us backward. We will keep politicians out of the exam room and protect every Oregonian’s freedom to make their own reproductive health care decisions.”
