Portland, OR – Tomorrow, October 13th, is the deadline to register to vote in Oregon for the 2026 midterm election. In a year when Oregonians are fed up with the failed MAGA policies of Republicans like Donald Trump and Christine Drazan, the Democratic Party of Oregon encourages all eligible voters to register and make their voices heard in November.
Both Trump and Drazan have made it clear that one of their top priorities is restricting access to the ballot for Oregon voters. Donald Trump has repeatedly used the power of the executive office to try and undermine mail-in voting, while Drazan has championed multiple bills as a legislator that would make it harder for Oregonians to exercise their constitutional right to vote.
Drazan’s extensive record of attacking Oregonians’ right to vote includes:
- In 2025, Drazan introduced legislation that would completely upend Oregon’s voting system, establishing in-person voting as the default method, despite nearly 30 years of safe and reliable elections held primarily by mail-in ballots.
- That same year, Drazan sponsored a bill that would prohibit friends, roommates, or family members from dropping off a ballot on someone’s behalf.
- Drazan also opposed a bill to make voter pamphlet materials available in other languages.
- Alarmingly, Drazan also voted against allowing mail-in ballots that are postmarked by Election Day, but arrive after, to be counted, positioning herself even further to the right than Donald Trump’s Supreme Court.
Notably, both Trump and Drazan know that mail-in voting is safe and effective: they have encouraged their supporters to take full advantage of vote-by-mail and ballot collection, despite efforts on both of their parts to undermine these voting methods.
“It is especially important that Oregonians register to vote this year, because Christine Drazan and Donald Trump share a common goal: restricting Oregonians’ constitutional right to vote,” said Democratic Party of Oregon Chair Nathan Soltz. “Oregon has been a leader in access to the ballot for decades. The process is safe and reliable, and Drazan’s repeated attacks on our vote-by-mail system demonstrate just how out of touch she is with Oregon values.”
Oregonians who are eligible to vote can register to do so here. If you are unsure if you are registered to vote, or if you need to check your listed mailing address, you can check your registration status here.
