Portland, OR – Today marks just three weeks until Election Day 2026. As Christine Drazan’s struggling campaign lurches towards the finish line, the Democratic Party of Oregon wants to remind readers of three times her campaign has made headlines for the wrong reasons this cycle:
- In August, Drazan was caught in a self-dealing scandal after funneling nearly $100,000 from her dark money group to a for-profit consulting firm she also owns, which was described as “a ‘shell game’ of candidates passing money from one organization to another.”
- Despite repeated efforts to restrict ballot access in Oregon during her time in the legislature, Drazan’s campaign was caught on tape admitting that ballot collection would be a key part of their campaign’s strategy. Drazan crafted a bill that asked voters to decide whether to replace vote-by-mail with an in-person requirement.
- She was caught trying to scrub her conservative positions off of her campaign website, even going so far as to remove the word “conservative.” Reporting revealed that “Drazan’s new Voters’ Pamphlet statement touts her record of ‘delivering bipartisan results,’ despite her reputation in Salem as a combative, partisan legislator.”
“Christine Drazan’s campaign has been plagued by scandals and shady behavior from the word go,” said Democratic Party of Oregon Executive Director Candy Emmons. “Drazan has made it clear that Oregonians cannot trust her to responsibly manage a state budget, protect their rights, or be transparent about potential conflicts. Drazan has brought MAGA politics to Oregon, engaging in the same self-dealing and hypocrisy we’ve come to expect from the Trump administration.”
