Republican candidate for governor Christine Drazan’s top donor, the Republican Governors’ Association (RGA), was exposed this week for working hand-in-hand with abortion extremists to ban abortion nationwide. No wonder electing anti-abortion Christine Drazan is their top priority this election cycle.

According to the Washington Post, former GOP Gov. Chris Christie, a key RGA advisor, is teaming up with leading anti-abortion extremist and head of the far-right Susan B. Anthony List, Marjorie Dannenfelser. Together, Christie and Dannenfelser are plotting with GOP governors behind closed doors on how they can restrict abortion in a post-Roe America, effectively instituting an abortion ban in Oregon and across the country.

The RGA, which has given nearly $1.5 million to support Drazan’s campaign, is acting as the HQ of the GOP’s scheme to ban abortion. Even Mitch McConnell said yesterday that he’s counting on GOP governors to carry the torch for the Republican Party’s plan to ban abortion, saying he’d “prefer that this be dealt with at the state level.”

And Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin, who will campaign alongside Drazan in Oregon, attended a black-tie gala last night for the Susan B. Anthony List celebrating the “Fall of Roe v. Wade.” Also attending were former Vice President Mike Pence and South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham, who just announced his own plans to ban abortion nationwide.

Susan B. Anthony List’s extreme agenda shows how far GOP governors are willing to go to rip away reproductive rights. The group supported a constitutional amendment to ban abortion without exceptions for rape or incest and opposes contraception, including IUDs and the morning-after pill.

Dannenfelser has specifically said Republicans are targeting purple states like Oregon — where abortion rights are currently protected — as their priorities for ripping away reproductive rights.

KC Hanson, Chair of the Democratic Party of Oregon, released the following statement:

“National Republicans and the country’s biggest anti-abortion advocates are counting on Republican governors to carry out their agenda to ban abortion nationwide. That’s their plan. Christine Drazan and her biggest supporters at the RGA would rip away reproductive rights from millions of Oregonians if they had their way.”
