PORTLAND, Oregon (June 14, 2013) –
Today, the Democratic Party of Oregon officially endorsed Oregon United for Marriage, the campaign to win the freedom to marry for same-sex couples in Oregon.

"The campaign to end marriage discrimination against same-sex couples is a major priority for the Democratic Party of Oregon," said Frank Dixon, Chair of the Party. "But as a gay man who's spent over 30 years with my partner, Dan, it's also very personal. I believe that every loving, committed couple deserves the dignity, support and recognition that only marriage can provide."

The Democratic Party of Oregon has long been a champion for LGBT rights. In 2012, the full voting body of the Democratic Party of Oregon chose as one of their twelve legislative action items: "Ensure full marriage equality for same-sex Oregon couples and effect full legal recognition for same-sex unions of other jurisdictions including the repeal of Oregon Constitution Article 15, Section 5a (Ballot Measure 36 of 2004) that bans marriage equality for same-sex couples."
