On the attack, Chris Dudley showed that once again he has no idea what he is talking about and completely bungled his assault on John Kitzhaber’s record. When Dudley was off his scripted remarks and questioned by reporters about his false attack, he couldn’t back up his accusation and had to turn to his campaign team to piece together an explanation of his inaccurate assertion.
As the Oregonian reported, “Dudley was wrong in blaming Kitzhaber for the borrowing. Actually, Kitzhaber fought legislators of both parties – and particularly Republican leaders, who ran both chambers when he was governor – for wanting to borrow money to pay the state's operating costs.” And that when Dudley was “challenged by reporters, he said his campaign would look into the matter and correct it if necessary.”
“Chris Dudley and his well-paid consulting team need to get their facts straight,” said Trent Lutz, DPO Executive Director. “Once again when pressed, Dudley can’t answer questions…even on his own bad research.”
