News Advisory: Democratic Party of Oregon Elects New

State Leadership for 2023-2025

ALBANY – The Democratic Party of Oregon’s State Central Committee (SCC) gathered over the weekend in Albany to elect its party leadership. State party officers are elected every other year at their first quarter meeting by party delegates from across the state. These officers will serve a two-year term from now through the first quarter of 2025.

Dr. Rosa Colquitt, newly elected as Chair of the Democratic Party of Oregon, said, “Working together, we will see our progressive, pro-democracy vision realized. Our core beliefs that our economy should work for everyone, healthcare is a right for all, our diversity is our strength, and that democracy is worth defending will guide us to succeeding in our mission on behalf of those we serve.”

Colquitt is a longtime leader of the Democratic Party of Oregon, having served as the state’s Vice Chair, Chair of the DPO Black Caucus and Chair of the Racial Equity, Accountability, and Leadership Committee.

The DPO also elected Kim Schmith and Eileen Kiely as its Vice Chairs and Nathan Soltz as Secretary.

Party leaders play a critical role in maintaining the massive volunteer infrastructure responsible for supporting Democratic candidates from School Board to the White House. With local elections just around the corner, and with talk of 2024 elections already underway, the new officers will be hitting the ground running to back the Oregon Democratic team.
