Portland, OR — Yesterday, former MAGA Republican candidate for governor and key Christine Drazan ally Ed Diehl admitted that Trump’s Big Ugly Bill “will create real challenges for Oregon.” Despite the admission that Donald Trump’s signature bill has been an absolute failure for Americans, Republicans like Christine Drazan continue to push failed policies that will hurt Oregon families.
Drazan has supported cuts to Medicaid like the ones included in Trump’s Big Ugly Bill. However, we know that Trump’s Medicaid cuts align with her own record of voting to block efforts to expand access to health care and lower costs for Oregonian families:
- Last August, Drazan downplayed the impact of Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill and its impact on Oregon families.
- Drazan voted against funding for the Oregon Health Plan.
- She voted no on the creation of the Prescription Drug Affordability Board, which reviews and reports on price increases in prescription drugs.
- She opposed legislation to even explore the possibility of universal health care in Oregon.
600,000 Oregonians are at risk of losing their health care benefits as a direct result of Trump’s Big Ugly Bill, and so voters deserve to know: why won’t Christine Drazan admit that Donald Trump’s Big Ugly Bill harms Oregon, when even the most extreme of her Republican allies will?
“Christine Drazan’s record makes it clear: she is committed to cutting health care services for Oregon families and is in lockstep with Donald Trump’s Big Ugly Bill,” said Democratic Party of Oregon Executive Director Candy Emmons. “At every level of government, Republican leadership has shown that they have no plan to address health care costs. Oregonians will not accept a leader like Drazan, who won’t stand up for something as fundamental as our health care.”
