Portland, OR —  Last week, Republican Christine Drazan released a new ad in a frantic attempt to distract from her own disastrous record of abandoning Oregon’s students and educators.

Christine Drazan’s Record on Education:

  • Drazan voted against the Education Accountability Act, which set new metrics for student academic growth, including improving third grade literacy rates.
  • Drazan voted against the Student Success Act, which gave $1 billion to Oregon’s K-12 schools.
  • Drazan voted against compiling data more frequently on which students were chronically absent.
  • In February, Drazan failed to show up to vote on a bipartisan bill to expand Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and childhood literacy in Oregon.
  • Drazan promoted Trump-backed school choice policies that would drain money from Oregon public schools and undermine public education.

Under Governor Kotek’s leadership, student absenteeism rates have decreased and high school graduation rates have hit a record high.

“At every opportunity, Christine Drazan has either stood against or failed to show up for Oregon’s students and educators,” said Democratic Party of Oregon Chair Nathan Soltz. “Meanwhile, Governor Kotek has championed legislation to support and fund our state’s public schools. Oregonians deserve a governor who shows up for student success.”
