Democratic Party of Oregon Mourns the Loss of State Senator Aaron Woods, Sets Date to Fill Vacancy
As we mourn the loss of a dedicated public servant, the Democratic Party of Oregon also recognizes its responsibility to ensure continued representation for the people of Senate District 13. In accordance with state law and party procedures, the Democratic Party of Oregon will convene a nominating convention to begin the process of filling this legislative vacancy.
A convention made up of precinct committee persons representing the precincts in Senate District 13 will meet and nominate three, four, or five candidates. At least three nominees must fit the legal requirements for serving as a State Senator and be willing to hold the office.
County commissioners representing the counties within the Senate District must meet and select one of the nominees by the 30th day following the vacancy.
NOTE: The convention will be held Sunday, May 4th, at 2:00pm at the Wilsonville Library. Doors will open at 1:30pm.

- This event will only be opened to Precinct Committee Persons in SD 13. If you are a PCP and need to bring a caregiver or a dependent with you, please let us know at [email protected] as soon as possible.
- If you are a member of the press that would like to attend, please contact [email protected] to make arrangements no later than 24 hours in advance.
Candidates must file the SEL 145 form with the Democratic Party of Oregon (DPO) by Friday, May 2nd, at 12:00 p.m. You can file this form by emailing it to [email protected]
