2024-12: Honoring the Life and Service of Andy Bromeland

WHEREAS, Andy Bromeland served 52 years as a Marion County Democratic precinct committee person; and,

WHEREAS, Andy Bromeland served as chair of Oregon Young Democrats from 1977 to 1978; and,

WHEREAS, Andy Bromeland served as chair of the Marion County Democratic Central Committee from 1978 to 1985; and,

WHEREAS, Andy Bromeland served as a member of the State Central Committee and the Congressional Central Committee from 1978 to 1985, and,

WHEREAS, Andy Bromeland set up the Neighborhood Leader Program in Marion County and chaired it for two years; and,

WHEREAS, Andy Bromeland chaired the Demo Forum program for ten years; and,

WHEREAS, Andy Bromeland co-chaired the Marion County Democrats annual dinner auction four times; and,

WHEREAS,Andy Bromeland was a tireless volunteer, working to support candidates who shared his values, including serving as Marion County Chair for the McCarthy and Udall Presidential Campaigns and Chair for the Marion County Betty Roberts for Governor Campaign, and coordinating a Marion County event for the Mondale for President Campaign; and,

WHEREAS, Andy Bromeland set up the Neighbor-to-Neighbor Program in the City of Salem and ran the program for five years; and,

WHEREAS, Andy Bromeland was a committed career public educator; and,

NOW, THEREFORE, THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF OREGON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. We honor Andy Bromeland for his contributions to the Marion County Democratic Party, the Democratic Party of Oregon and the State of Oregon.

Section 2. We express our deepest condolences to his family and to all those who were touched by his kindness and dedication.
