Resolution 2020-006: Emergency Resolution Regarding Procedures for Electronic Meetings

AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF OREGON

Regarding Procedures for Electronic Meetings

WHEREAS, On March 8, 2020, Governor Kate Brown declared a State of Emergency regarding the COVID-19 Virus in the State of Oregon, and further issued a Stay at Home Order on March 23, 2020, and

WHEREAS, gatherings of large groups with participants from across Oregon are not permitted to meet in-person;  and a large number of our voting SCC delegates and alternates are from at-risk communities, or have family members who are in at-risk communities; and

WHEREAS, Oregon Democrats recognize the critical importance of protecting public health during this worldwide pandemic, and

WHEREAS, the Democratic Party of Oregon Bylaws allow emergency meetings to be held electronically, and

WHEREAS, the members of the State Central Committee need a safe and secure way to participate in meetings during the COVID-19 Pandemic;

NOW, THEREFORE, THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF OREGON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. To approve the proposed Special Rule of Order for Electronic Meetings of the State Central Committee for temporary use for meetings that occur when social distancing is required due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
