A RESOLUTION OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF OREGON
WHEREAS, the Democratic Party of Oregon wants to continue to honor our elected officials with positions as “superdelegates” (automatic unpledged delegates) and
WHEREAS, the basis of our Democratic party system is the assumption that our elected officials will
represent the will of their constituents, and
WHEREAS, the platform of the Democratic Party of Oregon clearly states in Article 5,
Plank 8, “We believe all political parties should be free to choose their own candidates for public office
by popular vote of their members.”
NOW, THEREFORE, THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF OREGON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Democratic Party of Oregon urges Oregon’s “superdelegates” (automatic unpledged delegates) to follow the will of the people of Oregon when casting their vote for the Democratic presidential candidates at the Democratic National Convention by voting in proportion to the Oregon statewide primary election results, and;
Section 2. To send this resolution to the Democratic National Committee Unity Commission as an expression of the will of the Democratic Party of Oregon.
