Trump Votes By Mail In Florida Days Before Calling It “Mail-In Cheating” While Oregon Republicans Continue To Support Efforts to Make it Harder to Vote

Mar 24, 2026

Portland, OR – New reporting today calls out Donald Trump for submitting a mail-in ballot for a special election in Florida — despite actively pushing to eliminate mail-in voting for Oregonians.

Trump’s mail-in ballot was requested and submitted just a week before he called the SAVE Act essential to national security and falsely claimed: “Mail-in voting means mail-in cheating. I call it mail-in cheating, and we got to do something about it all.”

Following in Trump’s footsteps, Oregon GOP candidates for governor have called for the passage of the SAVE Act and ending vote-by-mail. Christine Drazan supports restricting mail-in and absentee voting, requiring photo ID to vote, and limiting voter registration. Just last week, Ed Diehl urged U.S. Senators to pass the SAVE Act.

“In Oregon, vote-by-mail is how we guarantee free and fair elections. It’s also how Trump votes – even as he tells Republicans to dismantle it,” said Federico Araujo, DPO Communications Advisor. “Oregon GOP leaders are so eager to please Trump, they’re willing to undermine the rights of their own voters. We need leaders who are willing and able to stand up to Trump and protect their right to vote. From Oregon to Florida, it is Democratic leaders that are fighting to ensure that all Americans have access to cast their ballot.”
