Democrats to Buehler: Return all the Trump-Tainted Money, Stand up to Trump on Kavanaugh

As President Donald Trump reaches a new low by grossly mocking sexual assault survivor Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, the Democratic Party of Oregon is calling on Republican Knute Buehler to return all the Trump-tainted cash his campaign has accepted.

Last month, in the midst of the Kavanaugh controversy and the same week that it was reported that Buehler accepted $750,000 from the Republican Governors Association, President Trump held an RGA fundraiser at his New Jersey golf club.

So perhaps it should be no surprise that Buehler has stayed radio silent on Trump’s disgusting attacks on Dr. Ford.

By contrast, Governor Kate Brown spoke out against his shameful and disgusting comments, as did many Republicans and Democrats across the country.

Buehler has refused to say whether or not he believed Dr. Ford’s testimony and last week ducked a reporter’s questions about Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination. Buehler has been silent since Kavanaugh was nominated in July about the danger his appointment poses to women’s rights.

With one debate down and two more to go — starting tonight on KOBI-TV in Medford — it’s time for Buehler to finally make his positions clear with Oregon voters. Here are four questions Oregonians deserve answers to:

  1. Do you believe Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s accusations against Brett Kavanaugh?
  2. Do you support Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court?
  3. Will you return all of your Trump-tainted money? If not, why not?
  4. Governor Brown was endorsed by President Obama this week. Would you accept President Trump’s endorsement, if it was offered?

“Knute Buehler owes it to the voters of our state to come clean by returning the Trump-tainted cash his campaign has accepted and speaking out against the President’s mockery and Kavanaugh’s confirmation,” said Democratic Party of Oregon Chair Jeanne Atkins. “The more voters hear from Buehler, the more they see he is out of step with Oregon values and has zero real solutions to Oregon’s most pressing problems.”
