ICYMI: Knute Buehler's 'ironic' debate proposal
PORTLAND — After managing to attend only one GOP gubernatorial debate during the primary, Knute Buehler has suddenly tried to switch tactics as if voters wouldn't notice the contradiction. But Buehler's record — whether in the GOP primary, or as a state representative — proves otherwise, and an editorial from The Daily Astorian shows that it's going to take more than empty words for Buehler to win over Oregonians.
On Election Night, Governor Kate Brown called for a series of three debates and at least two joint appearances before newspaper editorial boards. Buehler then tried to up the ante to 10 debates. The Daily Astorian called his proposal 'ironic,' considering Buehler 'largely had been absent from the GOP debates and joint appearances.' “There’s a reason Buehler earned the nickname “No-Show Knute”, said Jeanne Atkins, Chair of the Democratic Party of Oregon. “Oregonians should question his sudden change of heart. While Governor Kate Brown is busy running the state, Knute Buehler is up to his normal posturing and game playing.”
