UPDATE: Sam Carpenter welcomes Trump's help on campaign trail — silence from Buehler and Wooldridge
PORTLAND — On Tuesday, the Democratic Party of Oregon called on Republican gubernatorial candidates Knute Buehler, Sam Carpenter, and Greg Wooldridge to declare whether or not they will accept help on the campaign trail from Trump if they emerge as their party's nominee. Within 20 minutes, Sam Carpenter responded with the following tweet:
Meanwhile, neither Buehler nor Wooldridge have responded to make clear if they will welcome help from Trump, who is reportedly “eager to return the campaign trail.”
"With Oregon leading the way in the resistance of the Trump administration's dark agenda, it's no surprise that Buehler and Wooldridge are dodging the question of whether they'd accept help on the campaign trail from their party's leader," said Jeanne Atkins, Chair of the Democratic Party of Oregon. "However, the fact is these candidates belong to the party of Trump. It remains to be seen if they'll stand with this corrupt president or if they'll stand with Oregonians in defending our state's best interests."
