RE: 10 Days to go – Democrat John Kitzhaber seizes Momentum
Here's the latest update from the campaign trail:
First, with just 10 days to go, the all the recent public polls have shown a dramatic shift in momentum for John Kitzhaber: see Rasmussen, SurveyUSA, Public Policy Polling, Oregonian.
Nate Silver of the New York Times blog "538" has also shown John Kitzhaber on the upswing.
Second, over 10,000 Oregonians, double our expectations, came out to see President Obama at the Oregon Convention Center this week, where he delivered a strong message that John Kitzhaber is the experienced leader Oregon needs.
"I know you have a race here where both candidates are talking about change – but there’s only one candidate who's actually delivered change, and that's John Kitzhaber. … If you send your ballots in for John Kitzhaber, this state will continue to be on the cutting edge of the future."
President Barack Obama's closing remarks that left Oregonians fired up and ready to go win this election.
And if all that wasn’t enough, newspapers from across the state have endorsed John Kitzhaber. The Daily Astorian, The Oregonian, Willamette Week, The Eugene Weekly, Beaverton Valley Times, The Skanner, Gresham Outlook, East Oregonian, Mail Tribune, The Eugene Register-Guard, Sandy Post, The Source Weekly, Forest Grove News Times, Portland Tribune, Tigard-Tualatin-Sherwood Times, Lake Oswego Review, The West Linn Tidings, Portland Mercury & Corvallis Gazette Times, have all endorsed John Kitzhaber.
“Dudley doesn't bring to this race a level of experience or insight that is essential. He is an array of sound bites with no real world experience to back it up. We urge a vote for John Kitzhaber for governor.” –The Daily Astorian, October 7, 2010.
“John Kitzhaber. Oregon's problems are too complex for a newcomer; the state needs his experience.” –Medford Mail Tribune, October 17, 2010.
“The answer is to begin to fix the state's deep problems. And there is only one candidate in this race prepared, on Day One, to do what the times demand of Oregon's next governor. That's John Kitzhaber.” – The Oregonian, October 10, 2010
“On the budget, jobs, education, public safety, the environment and health and human services, Kitzhaber proposes fundamental reforms, while Dudley’s positions often tinker around the edges and invariably yield to the familiar GOP mantras… Republican Chris Dudley wants voters to believe he can govern a state with a general-fund budget of $15 billion and a population of 3.8 million, but he hasn’t done anything to prove it.”- Register-Guard, October 17, 2010.
10 days till Election Day!
