PORTLAND, Oregon (June 16, 2010) –

Since Chris Dudley has reaffirmed his support for drilling off the Oregon coast, we were wondering if he could tell Oregonians how he would respond to a disaster like the BP spill in Oregon, or how he would guarantee that a tragedy would never happen to us.

Recently, Chris Dudley told Laurel Porteragain that he didn’t see why a ban is necessary but he did not say what sort of plan he would have in place to protect Oregonians in the event of a catastrophe in our state. If he is going to support corporations drilling in Oregon, he undoubtedly owes Oregonians an explanation of his emergency plan.

“If Chris Dudley is going to support drilling off Oregon’s pristine coastlines, he certainly needs to tell voters how he would ensure that a disaster like the one in the Gulf of Mexico would never devastate our environment,” said Trent Lutz, Democratic Party of Oregon Executive Director. “The fact that Dudley would gamble with such a vital piece of our economy, our culture and our heritage, shows just how little he understands Oregonians.”
