Portland, OR – With only seven days until the primary, the leading GOP gubernatorial candidates – Christine Drazan, Ed Diehl, and Chris Dudley – have dodged and deflected several key questions on the issues that matter most to Oregonians.
As voters across the state continue to cast their ballots, here are five questions each candidate must answer before the primary:
- Did you vote for Trump in any or all of the past three elections?
- Why do you support efforts from groups like Oregon Right to Life to restrict abortion access and reproductive rights, and would you sign legislation aimed at restricting those rights?
- Why didn’t you stand up against Trump’s illegal tariffs, even though they have raised the prices of everyday goods for Oregonians?
- Will you tell the Trump administration not to send masked federal agents into Oregon?
- Why didn’t you stand up against Trump’s cuts to Medicaid and food assistance programs that took healthcare away from 210,000 Oregonians and endangered SNAP benefits for 424,000 families in Oregon?
- Do you stand by Trump’s illegal and costly war in Iran, which puts American lives at risk while raising gas prices have increased by a dollar per gallon for Oregonians?
- Why do you support efforts to curb vote by mail in Oregon? Do you support the SAVE Act?
“The GOP candidates are running out of time to win over voters, and instead of addressing the issues that matter to Oregonians, they’ve resorted to infighting and ugly attacks,” said Federico Araujo, DPO Communications Advisor. “At the end of the day, voters need to know where their candidates stand on key issues. The silence ducking and deflecting isn’t cutting it.”
