Portland, OR – One year after Donald Trump’s devastating Big Ugly Bill went into effect, working Oregon families are still feeling its devastating impacts — including nearly 47,000 Oregonians losing access to SNAP benefits. In Oregon, roughly 1 in 6 households depend on SNAP to afford groceries, making these cuts even more harmful to the state.

When asked about the impacts of this deeply unpopular legislation last fall, GOP candidate for governor Christine Drazan indicated that she was not concerned with how many people would lose access to food assistance. Drazan continues to side with Trump over Oregon families who are suffering under his cost-raising agenda.

“It is no surprise that Christine Drazan is lock-step with Donald Trump and his agenda of cruelty,” said Democratic Party of Oregon Chair Nathan Soltz. “We can not count on right-wing extremists like Drazan to stand up to Trump or defend struggling Oregon families. Oregonians deserve leaders that will help lift them up, not sell them out to the MAGA agenda.”
