Portland, OR – At a time when Donald Trump’s disastrous agenda in DC is already jacking up the cost of utilities and energy, Christine Drazan’s record shows she’ll only make things worse by siding with special interests instead of working families.

Trump’s energy policies have included the aggressive phase-out of Inflation Reduction Act tax credits for improving home energy efficiency, as well as provisions in his Big Ugly Bill that eliminate tax credits for clean energy alternatives such as solar panels, all of which were aimed at lowering household energy costs.

Republicans in Oregon have similarly worked against lowering energy costs for Oregonians, including Republican candidate for governor Christine Drazan. As a state legislator, Drazan opposed the Oregon POWER Act. The bill shifted the burden of rising utility costs onto large users, such as data centers and cryptocurrency stores, while also providing relief for residential energy customers. Drazan also failed to cast a vote on the FAIR Energy Act, which prohibits utility companies from implementing new rate hikes between November 1 and March 31 to prevent high-demand winter spikes.

“This is just one more thing Donald Trump and Christine Drazan have in common: they are both working to make sure Oregonians pay higher energy bills,” said Democratic Party of Oregon Executive Director Candy Emmons. “Oregonians need leaders who will fight for them, not politicians like Drazan who put data center profits over affordability.”
