Portland, OR — This evening, Democrats across the country celebrated winning majorities in both chambers of Congress. In addition to these dramatic wins upending Donald Trump’s agenda, Oregonians celebrated after it was confirmed the Oregon House and Senate would retain Democratic majorities, and that Governor Tina Kotek has won her campaign for re-election against MAGA Republican challenger Christine Drazan. Democratic Party of Oregon Chair Nathan Soltz issued the following statement in response to Governor Kotek’s victory:
“This was an incredibly hard-fought campaign by Governor Kotek, her team, and the countless volunteers who turned out to help ensure that she was re-elected. Democrats reached out to hundreds of thousands of voters across the state in the days leading up to the election, and our message – that Governor Kotek would be a champion for abortion rights, affordable housing, and standing up to Donald Trump’s corrupt administration – clearly resonated, both here in Oregon, and in races across the country. We look forward to seeing what she will accomplish in her second term to continue improving the lives of Oregon families.”
